On my last full day in Penang, a hostel friend and I went up the tallest mountain on the island to watch the sunrise. From the top you can see George Town below and Butterworth across the water. It was beautiful.

After the sun rose I explored the top of the hill which is set up a bit like an amusement park. Many things were closed that early in the morning, but there was a photo gallery in an old colonial house that was open. The photos told the history of the train we took to get up the hill. The house was dilapidated and full of spiders, but it had beautiful windows with another tremendous view of George Town and the still rising sun.
